Introduction
With Torii automation, you can seamlessly update user attributes in Slack, simplifying employee management during key mid-lifecycle events such as promotions, departmental transfers, or name changes. Automating these updates reduces manual work and ensures your critical platforms remain consistently in sync.
Prerequisites for updating user title
Before setting up this automation, ensure that the the title field in Slack is configured to use SCIM.
To verify this:
1. Open your Slack Admin environment.
2. Go to "Configure profile".
3. Click "Edit" next to "Title". A popup will open.
4. Ensure the Data source is set to SCIM.
5. If not, change it to SCIM, save the changes, and then click "Publish changes".
How to update Slack user
1. Create a workflow.
Start by creating a workflow using the "User attribute changed" trigger. Define the parameter you’d like to monitor for changes to update it in Slack. For instance, let's walk through updating a user’s title.
Torii will monitor title changes in Google Workspace and automatically propagate these updates to Slack.
2. Select the "Update Slack user" action.
Choose the "Update Slack User" action to proceed.
3. Populate the field.
Use the personalization token [Trigger.User.Attribute-Changes.New-Google-Workspace-Job-Title] to populate the title field in Slack..
4. Activate the workflow.
Once everything is set, activate your workflow.
From now on, whenever a title change is detected in Google Workspace, Torii will automatically update the employee's title in Slack.
