Setup your Microsoft Teams integration and get all the insights in Torii's dashboard

Overview

  • Torii integrates with Microsoft Teams and syncs: The users' lists, licenses, and Applications installed in from Teams app store
  • You can use Torii to perform several actions:
    • Create/Delete Microsoft Teams users
    • Add/Remove User To or From, a specified Microsoft Teams team
    • Remove User from all Microsoft Teams teams
    • Send Message to team channels
    • Send Message to team users

Note that Torii's actions and capabilities might be updated, therefore the best way to always up-to-date is from our "Applications Capabilities" table.

Prerequisites

  • The user who connects the integration must be a Global Administrator or a Teams Administrator
  • To use the Microsoft Teams actions in Torii workflows, please make sure Teams in enabled for your whole organization in the Office admin center (You can do this by navigating to Settings-> Org settings , look for Teams and double click on it, and make sure the Turn on Microsoft Teams for all users option is turned on).

Installing Torii Bot on Microsoft Teams

If you'd like Torii to send notifications or messages via Teams, you can install the Torii Teams Notification Bot via Microsoft Teams admin center.

1. Installing the bot via the Microsoft Teams admin center

For the bot to send 1:1 proactive messages, it must be installed in each user's personal scope. To achieve this, add the bot as an installed app under your organization’s Global policies. This makes the bot automatically installed for all of the org users.

  • 1.1 Validate app availability

  • 1.2 Add Torii to Installed Apps under Global Policies

    • Navigate to “Setup Policies” and click on “Global (Org-wide default)”

  • You will be directed to the Global org Teams policies. We need to add the bot to users default installed apps. Click on “Add apps”:

  • Search for the bot by typing "Torii" on the pop-up right sidebar, click “Select” and then “Add”

After that you should see the bot lister under the installed apps 🚀

Known Issue: "Bot is not installed in personal scope"

This error can occur for two primary reasons:

  • Bot Installation Incomplete: The bot may not have been installed correctly. Please review the installation steps to ensure everything was set up as required.
  • User Hasn’t Logged Into Teams Since Installation: Even if the bot (e.g., Torii) was installed successfully by an admin, individual users must log into Microsoft Teams after the installation for their accounts to receive the updated configuration. If a user hasn’t logged in since the bot was added, they may see the "Bot is not installed" error.

How to Confirm Installation Was Successful

If at least one user has already received Teams notifications from the bot, this confirms that the bot was installed correctly. Other users seeing the error simply need to log into Teams to complete the setup on their account.

Install in Team (Optional)

If you want the bot to be able to send messages also in Teams channels, you need to install it on the relevant teams.

  • Click on the three dots and click on “Manage Team” > “Apps” > “Get more apps”:

  • Search “Torii” and click “Open”:

  • Click “Open” and select the relevant channels that you wish the bot to be part in and click on “Go”.
  •

Q&A

Q: How can I update non-standard or advanced user fields via actions?

A: Use the Custom Attributes field in the action to pass additional key–value pairs (strings, arrays, JSON objects, etc.) to the target app. See the detailed setup guide: Custom Attributes configuration .
