Overview

Torii integrates with F5 Networks (F5 Distributed Cloud) and syncs:

  • Users, including their email, name, role, status, and last login
  • Licenses: one F5 Networks license for every synced user
  • You can constantly stay updated with application information from our Integrations Page >> Integration Capabilities button >> Integration Capabilities table.

Requirements

To connect this integration, we require the following:

Accounts & Permissions

  • An F5 Distributed Cloud tenant on an Organization plan. Your console address includes your tenant name.
  • An administrator who can create credentials in the F5 Distributed Cloud Console.
  • A credential whose role can read the tenant's users. To run the Torii actions, the role must also be allowed to create users, assign roles, and delete users.

Required keys

  • Tenant Name - the first part of your console address. For https://acmecorp.console.ves.volterra.io, the tenant name is acmecorp.
  • API Token - an F5 Distributed Cloud API token.

How to Generate the Required Values

Step 1: Find your tenant name

  1. Sign in to the F5 Distributed Cloud Console.
  2. Look at the address in your browser. The tenant name is the part before .console.ves.volterra.io.

Step 2: Create an API token

Choose one of the following options.

Option A: Service Credential with limited roles

  1. In the F5 Distributed Cloud Console, go to Administration > IAM > Service Credentials.
  2. Click Add Service Credentials.
  3. Select API Token as the credential type.
  4. Assign only a role that can read users (for example, a role that includes user management access). Do not assign more roles than you need.
  5. Set an expiration and generate the token.
  6. Copy the token.

Option B: Personal API token

This works, but the token has all the roles of the user who creates it, which is more access than Torii needs.

  1. In the F5 Distributed Cloud Console, go to Administration > Personal Management > Credentials.
  2. Click Add Credentials.
  3. Select API Token as the credential type.
  4. Set an expiration and generate the token.
  5. Copy the token.

Important
Copy the token when it is generated. API tokens expire, so create a new one and reconnect before it does.

How to Connect the Integration

  1. Go to the Integrations page in Torii.
  2. Search for F5 Networks and click Connect.
  3. Enter the Tenant Name and the API Token.
  4. Click Connect.

Actions

  • Create F5 Networks user - creates a user in your tenant with the role you choose. You choose whether the user is managed by F5 or signs in through SSO (SSO must be enabled on your tenant).
  • Delete F5 Networks user - deletes the user from your tenant.
  • Assign F5 Networks role to user - adds a role to a user. It does not remove the roles the user already has.
