Overview

Torii integrates with Hugging Face and syncs:

  • Organization members, including external collaborators: name, username, email (when available), role and avatar.
  • Licenses: one Hugging Face license for each synced member.
  • You can constantly stay updated with application information from our Integrations Page >> Integration Capabilities button >> Integration Capabilities table.

Requirements

To connect this integration, we require the following:

Accounts & Permissions

  • A Hugging Face organization, and an administrator of that organization to create the token. Admin access is needed so Torii can see members' email addresses.
  • Member emails are available only for Team or Enterprise organizations, and only for verified (SSO or verified-domain) emails. Members without an available email are still synced without one.

Required keys

  • User Access Token - a Hugging Face token created by an organization administrator, with read access to the organization.
  • Organization name - the name of your organization as it appears in its URL: huggingface.co/<organization name>.

How to Generate the Required Values

Step 1: Create a User Access Token

  1. Sign in to Hugging Face with an account that is an administrator of your organization.
  2. Go to Settings >> Access Tokens.
  3. Click Create new token.
  4. Enter a name for the token, for example Torii.
  5. Choose the token type:
    • Fine-grained: under Org permissions, search for your organization and select Read org settings. Use this type if your organization only allows fine-grained tokens, since other token types are rejected for such organizations.
    • Read: gives read access to everything your account can read. Works, but grants Torii more than it needs.
  6. If you plan to use the "Change Hugging Face organization member role" action from Torii workflows, also select Write org settings / member management for the organization.
  7. Click to create the token and copy it (it starts with hf_).

Important
Copy the token right after creating it and store it securely. If your organization requires administrator approval for tokens, tokens created by an organization administrator are approved automatically.

Step 2: Find your organization name

  1. Open your organization page on Hugging Face.
  2. Copy the name from the URL: huggingface.co/<organization name>.

For more details, see the Hugging Face documentation on User access tokens.

How to Connect the Integration

  1. Go to the Integrations page in Torii.
  2. Search for Hugging Face and click Connect.
  3. Enter the User Access Token and the Organization name.
  4. Click Connect.

Actions

Change Hugging Face organization member role

  • Changes the role of a member in your Hugging Face organization.
  • Requires a Team or Enterprise plan and a token that can manage the organization.
  • Changing a member's role removes the member from all of their resource groups.

Q&A

Q: Why are some members synced without an email?

A: Hugging Face exposes member emails only for Team or Enterprise organizations, only when they are verified through SSO or a verified domain, and only to an administrator token.

Q: Why are external collaborators synced?

A: Hugging Face counts external collaborators toward the paid seats of your organization. They are synced only when the token belongs to an organization administrator.

Q: What happens to a member's resource groups when I change their role from Torii?

A: The member is removed from all resource groups in the organization. Re-add them in Hugging Face if needed.
