Overview

Torii integrates with Disqus and syncs:

• The moderators of your Disqus site (forum) as users.
• You can constantly stay updated with application information from our Integrations Page >> Integration Capabilities button >> Integration Capabilities table.

Requirements

To connect this integration, we require the following:

Accounts & Permissions

• A Disqus account that is the owner or a moderator of the site you want to connect.
• The Disqus API is available on every plan, with a default limit of 1,000 calls per hour. A sync uses two calls.

Required keys

• Public Key (API Key) of your Disqus API application.
• Secret Key (API Secret) of your Disqus API application.
• Access Token of your Disqus API application.
• Forum Shortname of your site.

How to Generate the Required Values

Step 1: Register an API application

1. Sign in to Disqus with an account that is the owner or a moderator of your site.
2. Go to https://disqus.com/api/applications/ and register a new application.
3. Open the application details page. Under OAuth Settings, copy the API Key (this is the Public Key) and the API Secret (this is the Secret Key). Under Your Access Token, copy the Access Token.

Step 2: Find the Forum Shortname

1. Open the Disqus admin of your site.
2. Copy the site shortname from the admin URL or from the site settings.

How to Connect the Integration

1. Go to the Integrations page in Torii.
2. Search for Disqus and click Connect.
3. Enter the Public Key, Secret Key, Access Token and Forum Shortname.
4. Click Connect.

Actions

• Add User - adds a person as a moderator of the connected site. The person must already have a Disqus account, and you enter their Disqus username.
• Remove User - removes a moderator from the connected site.

Q&A

Q: Why don't Disqus users have an email in Torii?
A: The Disqus API does not share moderators' email addresses. Torii shows each moderator's Disqus username and name instead.
