Requirements
To connect this integration, we require the following:
Accounts & Permissions
- An Avalara (AvaTax) account.
- An Avalara user with the account administrator role. We recommend creating a dedicated administrator user for Torii.
Required keys
- Account ID - your AvaTax Account ID.
- Username - the username of the administrator user.
- Password - the password of the administrator user.
- Environment - Production or Sandbox, according to the Avalara environment you use. Avalara free trial accounts are Production accounts.
How to Generate the Required Values
Step 1: Create a dedicated administrator user (recommended)
- Sign in to Avalara as a user who is allowed to add and manage users (an organization administrator). Production: app.avalara.com (older accounts: admin.avalara.com). Sandbox: sandbox.admin.avalara.com.
- Go to Account >> Users (in some accounts: Settings >> All settings >> Account settings, then Manage on the Users tile).
- Click Add a user and enter the user's full name, email address and a unique username.
- Choose account-wide access with the account administrator role, and send the invite.
- Open the invitation email Avalara sends to the new user and set a password.
Step 2: Find your Account ID
- Sign in to the Avalara Admin Console with the administrator user.
- Your Account ID is a numeric value shown in the top-right corner of the Admin Console. It can also be found under Settings >> License and API keys.
- Copy the Account ID. Do not use the Company ID or Company Code, which are different values.
Important
Avalara menu names can differ slightly between accounts. If you cannot find an option, refer to Avalara's help center or contact your Avalara administrator.
How to Connect the Integration
- Go to the Integrations page in Torii.
- Search for Avalara and click Connect.
- Enter the Account Name, Account ID, Username and Password, and select the Environment (Production or Sandbox).
- Click Connect.
Actions
- Create User - creates a new user in Avalara with the account-level role you select. The new user receives an email from Avalara to set a password. The connected user must be an account administrator.
- Delete User - deletes a user from Avalara. The connected user must be an account administrator.
Q&A
Q: What should I enter in the "Account Name" field?
A: The Account Name field lets you connect multiple Avalara accounts to Torii. The value can be anything you choose. It is only used to distinguish between your connected accounts. Make sure to use a unique Account Name for each account: connecting a different account with an Account Name that is already in use will overwrite the existing account's data, so choosing distinct names is your responsibility.
