Requirements
Accounts & Permissions
- A Happy Scribe account on any plan. API access is included on every plan, including the free tier.
- The user whose API key you use must be an owner or admin of the Happy Scribe workspace you want to connect. Any member can list the workspace members, but owner or admin permissions are required for Torii workflow actions that add, re-role or remove members.

How to Generate the Required Values
- Log in to Happy Scribe.
- Open your Account page.
- Copy your API key.
How to Connect the Integration
- Go to the Integrations page in Torii.
- Search for Happy Scribe and click Connect.
- Enter your Happy Scribe API key.
- Click Connect. Torii syncs the members of the workspace that the API key belongs to.
Actions
Happy Scribe supports the following workflow actions:
- Invite Happy Scribe user – adds a person to a Happy Scribe workspace. You choose the workspace and the role.
- Update Happy Scribe user – changes an existing member’s role.
- Remove Happy Scribe user – removes a member from the workspace.
Happy Scribe only allows the Member and Admin roles to be set through its API. The workspace owner’s role cannot be changed and the owner cannot be removed.
Q&A
Q: I invited someone but they are not showing up in Torii. Why?
A: If the email address was not already registered with Happy Scribe, Happy Scribe sends them an invitation instead of adding them straight away. Invited people do not appear in the Happy Scribe member list, and therefore not in Torii, until they accept the invitation and create their account.
Q: Why did an invite fail with a message about my plan?
A: Some roles are not available on every Happy Scribe plan. On a free workspace, adding a Member is rejected because free workspaces do not include Member seats. Choose a role your plan supports, or upgrade the Happy Scribe plan.
Q: Which Happy Scribe workspace does Torii sync?
A: Torii syncs the workspace that the API key’s owner belongs to. To sync more than one workspace, connect Happy Scribe again using an API key belonging to a user in that other workspace.
