Overview
Torii integrates with ChatGPT and syncs:
- People in your ChatGPT Enterprise workspace — their name, email, role, and seat type.
- The groups each person belongs to.

Requirements
To connect this integration, we require the following:
Accounts & Permissions
- You must have the Owner or Admin role in the ChatGPT workspace you want to connect.
- Admin keys are only available for eligible managed ChatGPT workspaces (ChatGPT Enterprise, Edu, and ChatGPT for Healthcare workspaces).
Required keys
- Workspace ID — the unique ID of your ChatGPT workspace.
- Admin API Key — a workspace-scoped Admin key created in ChatGPT’s Admin Console.
How to Generate the Required Values
Step 1: Find your Workspace ID
- In ChatGPT, select your profile icon, then select Workspace settings.
- Go to General.
- Copy the workspace identifier shown there — this is your Workspace ID.
Step 2: Create an Admin API Key
The permissions your key needs depend on what you want Torii to do. Syncing users and groups needs read access only. Running Torii’s ChatGPT actions from a workflow (inviting a member, changing a role, removing a member, adding or removing group membership) also needs write access. Create the Admin key with the smallest permissions that cover what you plan to use, rather than a full-access key.
- Sign in to Admin Console with an account that has the Owner or Admin role for the workspace you want to connect.
- Select your tenant if prompted, then select the ChatGPT workspace you want to connect.
- Open Credentials, then select Admin keys.
- Select Create new admin key and give it a descriptive name (for example, “Torii”).
- Choose an expiration. Admin keys can default to Never expire — set an expiration your organization is comfortable with, or leave it as Never if that matches your policy.
- Choose the permissions:
- Select Custom permissions.
- To sync users and groups (required): set Users to Read and Group Management to Read.
- To also run Torii’s ChatGPT actions from workflows: set Users to Write, Group Management to Write, and Invitations to Write. In ChatGPT, Write on a category also grants read on that category, so the sync keeps working.
- Leave every other category at None.
- Select Submit.
Important
Your Admin API Key is shown only once, right after you create it. Copy it and store it somewhere safe before you leave the page — you won’t be able to view it again.
If you can’t create a Custom key: Workspace admins (as opposed to workspace owners) may not see every permission category, and some organizations restrict key creation to owners. If a Custom option isn’t available to you, you can instead create a key with the All permissions preset — this works, but it grants Torii more access than it actually needs. Use Custom whenever it is available to you.
A key created by someone who later loses Admin or Owner access to the workspace, or is deactivated, stops working — plan for who on your team owns this key.

If you do not plan to use a given action, you can leave its permission out.

How to Connect the Integration
- Go to the Integrations page in Torii.
- Search for ChatGPT and click Connect.
- Enter your Workspace ID and Admin API Key.
- Click Connect.
Q&A
Q: We use more than one ChatGPT workspace — can Torii connect all of them?
A: Yes, but each connection covers exactly one ChatGPT workspace. If your organization has several ChatGPT workspaces, connect each one separately with its own Workspace ID and Admin API Key.
Q: How are ChatGPT licenses counted?
A: Separately by seat type. ChatGPT seats and Codex seats are paid for separately, so Torii reports them as separate license counts instead of combining them into one number.
Q: If someone is removed from our ChatGPT workspace, will Torii show them as removed?
A: No — they will simply stop appearing in the synced user list. ChatGPT’s API only returns people who are currently active members; it does not report who was removed. If you have a workflow that waits for a user’s status to change to “removed” or “deleted” before taking action, it will not be triggered by a ChatGPT removal — the person just disappears from the next sync instead.
Q: We already connected Torii with a read-only Admin key. Can we still use the ChatGPT actions in workflows?
A: Not until the key has write permissions. A read-only key syncs fine, but any action run against it fails with an insufficient permissions error. You do not have to reconnect the integration: in Admin Console, go to Credentials > Admin keys, open the key’s more options menu (•••), select Edit, raise the permissions listed above, and select Save changes.
