Overview

Torii's Slack Agent lets employees discover and request app access directly from Slack — no need to open a separate tool or submit a ticket. The agent responds to natural language messages and guides employees through the App Catalog experience conversationally.

What employees can do

  • Request access to a catalog app — ask for access to an app that already exists in the catalog
  • Request a new app — submit a request for an app that isn't in the catalog yet
  • Check request status — ask the agent for an update on a pending request
  • Ask questions about catalog apps — find out who owns an app, read its description, or see which apps they're already using

Prerequisites

  • The Slack integration must be connected in Torii
  • The New App Access Catalog labs feature must be enabled

How to install

In Torii, go to App Catalog → Settings → Slack agent and follow the setup steps to install the agent in your Slack workspace.

Customizing the agent name in Slack

The Torii Slack Agent is installed with a default bot name. If you'd like to rename it to something more familiar for your org (for example, "IT Help" or "AppStore"), a Slack admin can do this directly in Slack:

  1. As a Slack admin, go to the Installed Apps page in your Slack workspace and select Torii.
  2. Click App Details.
  3. Navigate to the Configuration tab, scroll to the Bot User section, and edit the bot name.

How it works for employees

Once installed, employees can open a direct message with the Torii bot in Slack and type a request in plain language — for example, "I need access to Airtable" . The agent will guide them through the request or answer their question directly.
