Overview
Torii's Slack Agent is an AI-powered assistant that lets employees discover and request app access directly from Slack — no need to open a separate tool or submit a ticket. Using natural language, employees can ask for access to an app, check on a pending request, or get answers about apps in your company's catalog. The agent interprets the request with AI, confirms the details with the employee, and creates or updates the access request in Torii automatically.
What employees can do
- Request access to a catalog app — ask for access to an app that already exists in the catalog
- Request a new app — submit a request for an app that isn't in the catalog yet
- Check request status — ask the agent for an update on a pending request
- Ask questions about catalog apps — find out who owns an app, read its description, or see which apps they're already using
How an access request works
- An employee messages the Torii agent in Slack, e.g. "I need access to Figma."
- The agent uses AI to understand the request and checks the App Catalog for a match.
- If the app exists, the agent confirms details (like the license type or business justification, if required) and submits the request in Torii.
- If the app isn't in the catalog, the agent logs it as a new app request for the Torii admin team to review.
- The employee can message the agent anytime to check the status of a request.
- Approvals and provisioning continue to follow your organization's configured access request policy in Torii.
Prerequisites
- The Slack integration must be connected in Torii
- The New App Access Catalog labs feature must be enabled
How to install
In Torii, go to App Catalog → Settings → Slack agent and follow the setup steps to install the agent in your Slack workspace.
Customizing the agent name in Slack
The Torii Slack Agent is installed with a default bot name. If you'd like to rename it to something more familiar for your org (for example, "IT Help" or "AppStore"), a Slack admin can do this directly in Slack:
- As a Slack admin, go to the Installed Apps page in your Slack workspace and select Torii.
- Click App Details.
- Navigate to the Configuration tab, scroll to the Bot User section, and edit the bot name.
How it works for employees
Once installed, employees can open a direct message with the Torii bot in Slack and type a request in plain language — for example, "I need access to Airtable" . The agent will guide them through the request or answer their question directly.
About AI-generated responses
The Slack Agent uses AI to interpret messages and generate replies. While it's designed to be accurate, AI-generated responses may occasionally be incomplete or incorrect. Employees should verify important details — such as request status or approval decisions — directly in Torii's App Catalog.
