What is Data Loss Prevention

DLP (Data Loss Prevention) protects sensitive data from unauthorized access or leaks by monitoring, detecting, and blocking risky activities to ensure compliance and prevent breaches.

Data Loss Prevention using the Torii Browser Extension

The Torii Browser Extension helps prevent data leaks by monitoring text entered into AI chat tools like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude. It scans content locally for sensitive data such as PII or financial details. If a risk is found, it warns the user or blocks the message before it’s sent. Detection happens entirely on the device, and no browsing history or message content ever leaves the browser.

The end-user experience

When a user enters sensitive data like an email or phone number, a message is shown before submission:

The user can choose to anonymize the data with a single click:

Or click Dismiss if this is legitimate use.

How to enable Data Loss Prevention

Follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Settings -> Browser Extension page

  2. Turn Data Loss Prevention on
  3. Optionally, select which leakage types to protect against using the 3 toggles
  4. Deployment of changes may take up to an hour. To test configuration changes in your browser, right-click the browser extension and click Reload for an immediate configuration update:
